What is the difference between eau de toilette & eau de parfum?
_
From highest concentration to least, the different forms of perfume are:
  • Perfume. Also known as “extract or extrait perfume”. It can include 15-40% plus perfume concentrates. Lauren Noir uses this form exclusively. This is the purest form of scented product and is the most expensive as a result.
  • Eau de parfum. Contains about 7-15% perfume concentrates. This is the most popular and common form of perfume. It provides a long-lasting fragrance and generally doesn't cost as much as extract perfume.
  • Eau de toilette. Contains about 1-6% perfume concentrates. This makes for a light scent that doesn't linger as long as the more intense versions. It was originally intended to be a refreshing body splash to help people wake up in the morning.
  • Eau de cologne. Also used interchangeably with the term eau de toilette. However, the mixture originally began as a light, fresh fragrance mixed with citrus oils. This specific type of blend is sometimes today known as “eau fraiche."

Do you test on animals?
_
No! We are committed to eliminating animal testing altogether. In fact, we are certified Leaping Bunny™ – Cruelty Free by the Coalition for Consumer Information on Cosmetics' (CCIC) compliance standard, the only internationally recognized standard, guaranteeing consumers that no animal tests are used in the development/production of any product carrying the Logo as of a fixed cut-off date. The Logo can be seen on packaging, advertising, and point-of-sale purchases for cosmetics and household products around the world.

Many non-compliant companies advocate "not tested on animals" or "cruelty-free" claims and icons without regulated compliance, third-part audits and the assurances offered by certification through CCIC. Love and peace to all the animals!

Do you use lead-core wicks in your candles?
_
No! You and all our customers are extremely important to us and we would never sacrifice your health, which is why all of our products are environmentally friendly.

We use lead-free wicks in all of our candles. Lead-core wicks emit potentially dangerous levels of lead into the air. "Lead poisoning remains one of the most serious environmental health diseases in this country and other parts of the world. It affects many organ systems and biochemical processes with the most serious sequelae often occurring in the central nervous, cardiovascular and blood systems," according to Dr. Jerome Nriagu at the University of Michigan.

Why do you use food-grade ingredients in your soap?
_
First off, this does not mean our soap is edible! Although it smells amazing…DO NOT EAT OUR SOAP! We chose food-grade quality ingredients simply because they are the safest and finest ingredients you can use to cleanse and nourish your hands. Your skin is an organ...what you put on it matters.

Is color variation in my product normal?
_
Yes. Color variation is completely normal due to our hand making process. Additionally, specific perfumes, over time, will change color. This is a completely safe and normal event that occurs from the lack of harmful and unnecessary preservatives. Unlike other manufacturers, your health is our priority!

How can I insure maximum burn time for my candle?
_
3 Simple Recommendations:
  1. Burn candles for a maximum of 2-3 hours at a time. Once the wax hardens you can re-light and continue burning;
  2. When a candle is not lit and the wax is hard, keep the wick trimmed to 1/4 inch in height; and
  3. Be sure to place candles away from drafts, vents or air currents.

Why are hand-made & poured products better than mass/machine-made?
_
Simple. Businesses that produce machine poured (or mass-produced) perfumes, candles, soaps and body care (“Products”) are interested in quantity not quality. We, on the other hand, are only involved in quality! Below are some disadvantages in mass/machine-made and poured Products:
Description Handmade & Hand-Poured Mass/Machine Produced
Fragrance Concentration hand-mixed extract perfume (purest form) eau de toilette (1-6% perfume)
Fragrance Combining Method hand-mixed for best consistency unmixed, dipped in scent
Fillers none - only high quality ingredients water (diluted), inexpensive waxes (toxic) & synthetics (very harmful/carcinogenic)
Wicking (candles only) custom wicking (best burn rate & time) standard wicking (thus incorrect sizing)
Quality Assurance each product is hand inspected unsmooth tops, air bubbles, sink holes, etc.
  • Fragrance Concentration. Businesses that mass/machine-produced perfumes, candles, soaps & body care typically use eau de toilette, which is the most inexpensive and diluted form of perfume concentration. Lauren Noir only uses Perfume also called extract or extrait perfume; the purest form of perfume concentration available!
  • Fragrance Combining Method. Most mass produced candles are dipped in a scent, meaning the outside of the candle is scented, NOT the core. Thus, you get a candle that will not fill a room with its fragrance, but rather one that only smells good in a store. Lauren Noir fragrances are mixed and poured into each product by hand to create the freshest, most fragrant, and integrated scent available so that when our candle burns down or our soap is used, it will release more scent into the air. This allows for the true benefits of aromatherapy as well as a consistent flow of aroma from the first use to the last.
  • Fillers. To reduce costs, mass-produced Products use some of cheapest fillers available. Perfumes are typically filled with water and synthetics (most harmful), candles with inexpensive waxes (some toxic) and synthetics (most harmful/toxic), soaps with lards and synthetics (some very harmful/carcinogenic), and body care with lards and synthetics (some very harmful/dangerous). We, on the other hand, exclusively use the finest ingredients and do not use “fillers” in any of our products. We have researched and tested each wax that we use to make sure it burns long and clean.
  • Standard Wicking. Candles, which are mass-produced, use generic wicking regardless of the size and/or wax chosen, meaning they cut corners and often provide a candle that burns with an enlarged flame, which therefore burns at a much faster rate than expected. You could say this is a form of planned obsolescence or at least an effort to reduce a products shelf life more quickly. We use custom quality wicking and through extensive testing have hand-tailored each wick to the particular candle scent, type of wax and candle size used to ensure the maximum burn rate and time.
  • Quality Assurance. Unsmooth tops, air bubbles, sink holes, etc. are common occurrences with mass-produced candles, which interfere with candle burning and the candle’s life. Since we hand pour our candles, each one receives a thorough inspection to make sure these anomalies do not occur.
